VIKINGS

1mins ‧ HDV ‧ Ireland/Greece ‧ 2016

An exploration of refugee experience and of masculinity in a tableau single shot of an unfolding conversation. It is March 2016; the EU-Turkey deal has just come into effect and stopped all asylum seekers from passing through Greece to the rest of Europe. 50,000 people are stuck in Greece. A few thousand of them have made a makeshift camp at Piraeus Port in Athens. Five men, an Iranian and four Syrians, are sitting in Piraeus port sharing shisha and discussing the TV series ‘Vikings’ and their recent journey from Turkey to Lesbos by rubber dinghy.
