PESO (WEIGHT)

Performance and photographic series ‧ 2004

Peso (in english, 'weight' or 'money') is a series of photographs of a performance made while on an artists' residency in Costa Rica in 2004. 

The performance was made as a way to mark the resignation of the artist from her vocation. 

The photos are of the artist lying down under the weight of an anvil-type 'prop' and were taken outside various cultural institutions in the capital city, San Jose. 

The work was remade in 2007 for an exhibition 'In Pursuit' in Siamsa Tíre, Kerry, as a large scale photograph (4' x 10') and reproduced as a centerfold for Karnival magazine (2006).
